    Interesting Coalfield article(Not Online)

A commentary by Glenn Roberts. It's title is Wise County has a border problem of its own. Some interesting facts about the out of county students, including costs, buses and reasons why or why not people support things. I'm sure that something like this from a prominent Wise County citizen may get the old fires burning especially right here around budget time.

A good read no matter what side of the fence you sit on. To bad this one isn't online. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Definitely a good read and likely to bring this issue back to the forefront of discussions involving our county schools. Mr. Roberts does make a good case for charging tuition for out-of-county students. It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of it.....
......and I thought truth was universal. Silly me......

Well as the commentary. And if your gonna talk about it. Well put it on here. Just a matter of a little typing ain't it?

Until we do something with illegal immigrants, why should we with illegal kids.
Honestly. These illegals are costing us more and more. Medicaid and food stamps. Free housing. All were talking about here is a decent education.
And from folks who know the language.

I hate it when i get a solicitor and they can't even speak ingles or no habla ingles.
Yet if you speak Spanish and call a place your fine. Hmm double standars in our own country.

As far as these kids. Well let them have the education. There is millions were paying for we get no refund or return on.

At least these kids are getting an education. Heck who knows they may solve the problems our President and Congress and Legislature can't.

Even China or Japan one is talking about fingerprinting foreigners. Not just one but all.
Hmm. Wonder if our border problems, mayn be making a few others look at their problems. But we can afford to keep the world and our own huh.
I've not seen our own taken care of yet. The world oh yeah were ready to do that. It looks better politically.

I have not read the artical but IMHO I look for more and more sniping at the school issue in Wise Couny (Let not fool ourselfs all this will in some shap form or fassion tie back to consoladation) The pro consoladation side will point out all the waste that could be elemanated (education of students whos parents do not make up part of the tax bases IS a finacual drain) the Anti consoladation side will point out that the extra students are 80% funded by the state and the extra 20% is a small price to pay to keep all our schools open and class sizes small.

I do not think Tuition will ever be charged to students in any non-city school in our area if it were to happen in Wise Co. Castlewood would become a much larger school, Ervinton would pick up several students as well....St Paul would probably have to close and PV would see some srinkage.

Again I almost don't even want to comment on this since it usaly just brings up all the same sad arguments that have benn beat into the ground

You guys want to know the truth. About how and why i feel as i do.

I set and watch our country, let children and adults go hungry, that can't help themselves.

Yet we take care of the world. And no one is looking out for those here at home, unless it is an election year.

You want the truth that is the truth.

Yeah we got problems. But a few kids getting an education is bigger than our major problems? I don't think so.

And to me I know letting a few things go locally may not be right.

But what about when we let kids and adults go on the national level. Our homeless kids and adults are a direct result of our system. What have we done to correct our problems, and take care of our own lately? Not a [censored] thing.
You want the truth. Want to actually believe it and see it. Well that is it.

We haven't done a [censored] thing for our people in this country in a long time.

And yeah that pisses me off.

Yet we argue over a few kids getting a decent education and the cost of that education.

[censored] aint we right up there with the politicians.

False hope and encouragement. As long as you vote for me.

Getting and giving that vote and playing the game is what has killed us as a country. False dreams false hope. Lies and more lies. And still we have our own problems, yet try to convince the world we have the answers. [censored].

Do you mean Powell Valley High School actually does have a goodly number of out-of-county transfer students - especially after the PV fingerpointers screaming about another school(s)?

    SAY IT AIN'T SO! [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

I think what the issue is, at least as far as I see, is this. It's a lot easier to fix a room in a house than it is to fix a house. It's a lot easier to mow one yard than it is the entire community. I guess in someways, we'll always have something to complain about, its never going to be a perfect world, but we can't just say why worry about the 'issue here' when there is a lot of other issues all around because there is always going to be issues abroad.

Nothing against you or anyone Rock.

Years ago we could of fixed one house at a time to fix our problems.

Today that is not even an option.
I know we all argue and talk alot. But honestly. We have no sure national foundation no more.

Until that is fixed. We as a nation are looking at a slow demise.

Leadership and respect is something earned. Not given away. Well until this nations gets back to taking care of it's own and demanding, not asking the rest to do the same, respect us. Well don't look for us to make no upward strides.

    Were defeated.

When a country tells us, they will take us to court, in our own courts. Well what do you think. Sorry but that is the truth.

Our demise depends on our leadership. Where is our leadership. Locally and nationally?

All of this is about politics in a round about way. From SB issues to others.
So seriously where is our leadership.
Locally and nationally. Instead of playing off of people's emotions and people voting on emotions. How about real leadership local to national. Do we have any at all? If we do it's hard to see. And yeah that is just my opinion. But one i have watched diminish over the years.

A person who actually says what they see wrong locally and nationally saying. You know a real voice and concern. Not playing politics, just asking for a few answers. Every one seems to have the answer, but none seem to fit.

We can make football work. But we can't make something work for our local and national problems.
[censored] ain't that a weird concept.

Well I'll agree that we have no leadership anywhere.

I'm trying to post the article, give me a few minutes.
